Children and their parents aren’t the only ones being detained by the federal governments immigration enforcement officials. This time, the ICE have stepped up their game by detaining a pair of grandparents who were merely visiting their son-in-law for a Fourth of July celebration over at an Army Base in Fort Drum.

Border Patrol agents took it upon themselves to detain the couple and take them over to the ICE’s detention center. What is most worrying is that both individuals have recently undergone surgery and are in need of medication.

 

Via NBC New York, here’s another story that illustrates why frustrations with the federal government’s immigration enforcement have boiled over in recent weeks. Concepcion and Margarita Silva, both Mexican-born Brooklyn residents, drove up to the Army base at Fort Drum, near the Canadian border, to spend the Fourth of July with their son-in-law before he was deployed to Afghanistan for a third time. Instead, they were stopped by Border Patrol agents and taken to a Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center
